It was 1987 when Daniel Guimera decided to turn his passion for great architecture, even greater quality, and spaces that bring people together into something bigger. What started as one man's vision has grown into a multi-generational business, comprised of a father and son.
We've weathered economic ups and downs, adapted to new technologies, and watched countless families create memories in the pools we've built and remodeled. But our proudest achievement? We were the first father and son duo to graduate from UCLA’s Extension Landscape Architecture Program at the same time. This unique milestone reflects our commitment to continuous learning and professional excellence – values that define every project we touch.

Meet Our Founder,
Daniel Guimera
Daniel Guimera didn't set out to become one of Los Angeles' most respected pool contractors. His journey began with a love for outdoor spaces and a belief that every backyard has untapped potential.
Establishing SoCal Pools® in 1987, his approach was different from other pool contractors in Los Angeles – instead of focusing solely on construction, he emphasized design integration, with projects that didn’t just look great; they set trends, they flowed from the indoors to the outdoors, and they were shaped around how his clients like to live.
Years later, when his son joined the business and enrolled in the same UCLA program, Daniel made a decision that would define their family legacy. They studied together, graduated together, and became the first father-son duo in the program's history to achieve this milestone simultaneously.
Today, Daniel continues to oversee major projects, while mentoring the next generation of pool professionals. It’s his passion, with a hands-on, dependable approach that can be felt from the first ‘hello’.
Meet Our Present
Since joining SoCal Pools® in 2011, Daniel Hector Guimera has become the backbone of daily operations - managing projects, designing custom pools, and ensuring every client feels genuinely cared for throughout their journey with us. With over a decade of hands-on experience, he oversees everything from first consultations to final walkthroughs, while also managing hundreds of residential and commercial service accounts across Los Angeles and Ventura Counties.
Daniel holds multiple state and county certifications, including the C53 Swimming Pool Contractor License, C27 Landscaping License, and LA County Health Department Certified Swimming Pool Technician credentials. But what really sets him apart isn't just the licenses - it's that he completed UCLA's prestigious Landscape Architecture Extension Program while working full-time, producing a thesis titled "Our Legacy: Reimagining the Cemetery" that explored how design can create more meaningful spaces for remembrance.
At SoCal Pools®, Daniel is known for his calm, detail-oriented approach and his ability to bring clarity and organization to even the most complex projects. His philosophy is straightforward: combining thoughtful design with transparent communication to ensure clients always feel informed, supported, and excited about the process. This client-first mindset has helped him build long-term relationships and maintain smooth project execution from conception to completion.
Daniel earned his Business degree from California State University, Northridge in 2009, after graduating from Crespi Carmelite High School in 2005, where he competed in water polo and swimming - sports that gave him an early appreciation for well-designed pools.
Outside of work, Daniel enjoys spending time with his wife, Alie, and their two children, Audra and Caleb. As a family, they love traveling the world and introducing their kids to new places and cultures. Daniel is also an avid Formula 1 fan and enjoys playing golf with his son.

When I moved into a place with a funny little pool that had been jerry rigged and neglected, I was happy to continue the relationship. Daniel and team did an amazing job on resurfacing our pool and replacing our pool and spa lights. Their team is very efficient, with a new crew coming daily to do each part of the job. With a small rain delay, a large pool and spa was still completed within 2 weeks. We researched and got bids from many companies. SCP wasn't the most expensive or the least expensive, but they were by far the most highly recommended and our experience with the company proved we made the best decision. Many companies don't have reviews going back many years, which makes you wonder if they'll be around if the warranty is needed. SCP has been in business for decades and is family run. They have a winning formula when it comes to quality and efficiency. They were also the most professional when it came to the estimate and the operations process. And, when one of the workers inadvertently left power wash streaks on a section of newly stained patio tile, without hesitation Daniel made sure it was immediately restored. Our backyard looks incredible and our pool is the centerpiece of it all, thanks to SCP. We highly recommend them for any pool related work!

Southern California Pools provides excellent pool services from pool remodels, weekly pool maintenance and equipment repair. They repaired my deck when a piece cracked. I have had a pool to maintain for almost 50 years, and I have never been more pleased with a pool company’s service. I hired Southern California Pools originally in 2020 to repave my pool, replace my equipment and redo my deck. I was so pleased with the result that I hired them to provide the weekly maintenance. My pool has never been cloudy in all this time and in this heat. My pool person, Sergio, is competent and thorough. When my equipment recently needed repair (stuck valves) they were at my home the next day. I am sure you can find less expensive services, but I love that my pool water sparkles.
